Retired scientist who goes to various planets to measure various mostly abiotic factors using his retro-futuristic backpack device, and then sends his findings to the Intergalactic Intelligence division.
However, he isn't well-respected by them despite his thorough research since some of the things he measures and fauna and flora he records are so niche - or things thought to not truly exist, like cryptozoological beings - that they're not sure that he's entirely sane and accurate in his reports.
His official title is a citizen-meteorologist, as his primary record-taking is of weather, temperature, humidity etc. - these reports being so accurate are the main reason why the Intelligence hasn't cut off communications from him entirely.
Jammyx that he befriends tends to be other travellers that he comes across on various planets. He has a lot of online acquaintances but not a lot of IRL friends. The patches on the sleeve of his cropped jacket are a gift from one of the few that he does have, since they were buddies in uni.
