Jam's BaneApocynacae Rubrum
Harmful

Jam's Bane is a common brush plant in Planet Novaedus' Rainforests, often found growing in clumps among bushes or other plant growth, absorbing said plant's nutrients. It's classified as a weed, spreading quickly when left unchecked.
It's leaves are covered in small needle like fibres, which secret a chemical which is used to break down and absorb bugs, however if stuck in the cytoplasm of a Jammyx it can cause degradation of the cytoplasm's outermost layer, usually resulting in red discolouration and small punctures. Usually a Jammyx recovers from the punctures within a matter of days, though some have reported being left with cracked cytoplasm in affected spots.
Jam's Bane is poisonous when ingested by most pet species, causing nausea and dehydration. However, Walking Bushes have been seen eating it without negative effects. They even seem to enjoy it, making Walking Bushes an easy way to control it's spread.
Early on in Novaedus' colonization these plants were used in making red dye, but this practice has been phased out as prolonged exposure to the dyed materials caused rashes. Even then, you can still find it used in traditional wool dying practices.
In certain circles of Jammyx the fibres of Jam's Bane is collected and then embedded in the cytoplasm in a controlled manner. It is later removed and the Jammyx is left with cracked cytoplasm in the patterns that it was placed in. This practice is considered dangerous, and it is heavily warned that inserting it near the core or symbiont can cause major adverse effects.
